Airfix Railway System and GMR Catalogues

Only four Railway System catalogues are known to have been produced during the years 1976 to 1980. (or SIX, if you count the different flavours! see below)
The first catalogue of 1976 featured 18 colour pages and included such sought-after items as the Wild West Adventure Train Set and the Dr 'X' Adventure Train Set. The two Wild West sets were in HO scale, whilst the others were all made to OO scale. The first catalogue also acknowledged on the back page that the "Engines and Rolling Stock - made in Hong Kong. Track - made in Austria". All train catalogues also included the Airfix kit ranges - both trackside and locomotives. For more information on the train sets themselves please click here.

The pictures above are slightly misleading as all the catalogues were printed in A4 size - the 1976 catalogue simply being landscape whilst the others were portrait format. In addition there were two other catalogue versions - the blue-surround 1979 catalogue came with a 20p and a 25p price (different price printed on the front cover), and - more interestingly - it was also produced in a brown GMR-style front cover, as shown below.

There are three known retail price-list leaflets - February 1978, January 1979 and a 1980 GMR listing (if you know of others, please let me know)
